Power walk

Today I saw a colored woman walking down the street. Immediately I noticed her posture and walk. Shoulders back, arm swinging and a perfectly upright back. I thought to myself at first that she must have practiced that walk, but then a few minutes later it suddenly dawned to me - she had been taught that walk. She must have worked in the modelling industry at some point for a long while, or maybe still did. It was a catwalk walk for sure. It was funny how she still carried it onto the street though. It must have taken a great deal of work to walk that way and be so upright and rigid. It was no accident or a vanity exercise.

  1. I was taught to stand up straight and not to slouch. I still remember to imagine a stack of books on my head as I walk.

    1. I walk with a slight stoop. Ive noticed recently when three generations walked together that that it runs in the family. Its the same with the shoulder positions slightly as well. My granddad used to walk with his hands behind his back sometimes, and my daughter did that one day in just the same style. That was weird as she never met him.
