That's the problem today, in that people (not all, but probably most leftists) think we are living according to Darwinian principles, but we really are not. And at the same time, these leftists want to coddle certain types of protected classes.
For example, in my state, they want to create a new tax so that we give single mothers and foster kids (grown up foster kids) money. So you take from the dying middle class and give it to those who, according to research, will spend it on drugs and "bad things." There was research done on how people spent their pandemic "money" here in the USA, and most of it was spent on drugs.
On the opposite hand, you have the criminal mafias (government) getting away with everything and nothing touches them because they're another protected class.
This really isn't the "survival of the fittest" at all, and once you destroy your middle class, who is going to be left to pay taxes?
But that's their goal isn't it? Their "great reset."
Orwell wrote that the middle classes in order to rise to power needed the support of the lower classes who they promised to help, but once in power did nothing. Thats politics. I heard your second paragraph is being rolled out in Scotland or was it Ireland soon. Support services kicked up a fuss about direct payment. I guess they wanted control of the money.
What's going on with Ireland and Scotland? They remind me of Banana Republics. Are people there just heavy drinkers or something? I heard from someone that when they visited Scotland, everyone was drunk at all hours?
I'd say yes, especially now lockdown has ended and they had harder, longer lockdowns than the rest of the UK. Im glad I dont live in either. It could be worse though, I could live in Wales. There is a saying " If all else fails then try Wales "
