Ive only recently seen the lyrics for this song after all these years. They are rather cutting and predictive about how society has gone. Is this an accurate description of a Californian mindset ?
Favourite line - " Getting high on information " lol
Wow, it's weird you wrote about this when I just posted about chili sauce, and I didn't see your post until now. My sister LOVED this band btw, but I never liked them. The lead singer seems gross, and from what I've heard, he has had questionable relationships like with underage girls. The only song I like from this band is "Breaking the Girl." That song actually does have feeling and pathos in it. If Anthony Kiedis had spent his time writing more music like that, I would have genuinely loved this band. And yes, you are correct that this song sums up California and many Californians. My own cousin from California who studied to be a physicist loved to sing along to one of their songs about drug use and it shocked me when I heard him doing that. I suddenly felt even more alien and strange, since his own family are immigrants (half Danish). I can't understand why people like to sing about their past drug use, buy my sister does the same with Amy Winehouse songs.
ReplyDeleteI was always a Nirvana fan at that time. Strange how those posts share a theme. It happens now and again. It looks like im copying...lol
DeleteSpeaking of Nirvana, forensic scientists are now saying that K. Cobain's death was a homicide. They want the case opened again. People have been saying for years that his wife did it.
