The Vigil was a fantastic film. Well paced, spooky and not too exaggerated or smothered in special effects, but this is not what im here to post about. Every now and again a film comes along with too many coincidences. This is exactly what happened last night.
So on deciding to watch the film I thought I would go for a bike ride around the valley. It was totally deserted, except for a Jewish family taking a walk. Now that is highly unlikely where I live. It rattled me to start with, but then seemed like a sign of something larger.
On watching the film a demon scratches the floor breaking a finger nail off. I had an accident a month ago working on my car where I did the same, add to that the fact that a man filled with guilt at a child being run over is at the center of the films story... and it all feels connected.
I dont know how all this works, but novels and films seem to tie in past and present events into their fictional plots. Maybe even future ones ? I once heard an analogy that its like we see the wrong side of a woven picture, and it looks chaotic, but on the unseen side there is a clear picture that makes sense.
Could this be why some actors are superstitious or those involved in theater ? Is acting a ritual ? Is a story nearer to a spell or conjuring? The more I see the more I question.
That is fascinating. The nail incident sounds painful though, yikes!!!
ReplyDeleteI few loud words were used I admit. I went to A&E but there was a 5 hour wait, and it was midnight so I came home ! Being on blood thinners I was worried it would'nt clot.
DeleteI was impressed by the back story of the Holocaust. It gave a real weight to the story.
I think watching that movie helped me with my own metaphorical "demons." I found the movie to be healing.
DeleteAnd yes, that does sound painful. I lost a toenail once due to walking too much, and it was sore for a while and infected. I can't imagine it actually being ripped off though, that sounds like torture.
