GARY NUMAN - cars HYBRID
Carried away by a moon like shadow ? Well, not exactly, more like the by the M6 motorway system...It all started out well enough. A blast out in my car after a hard strange day seemed a good idea, even though i was utterly exhausted. A quiet A road with some great bends and little traffic was great fun to drive on. Only on my return journey did i misjudge which lane i should be in at a new junction and end up being forced on to the M6 motorway South bound carriage. Whoops...
I wasn't to bothered at first as i planned to turn off at the next junction and head North again. Whether it was tiredness or not i dont know, but i completely missed my turn off to North side. By now i was getting frustrated with myself as this was turning into a farce. Even though i was alone in my car i felt a sense of acute embarrassment which was growing by the minute.
On my next exit to a roundabout i found the North slip road blocked by cones ffs. Back South bound again then. At this point i was beginning to panic in the way you do when you are too tired to think of an alternative route home ,and that " bad dream " type feeling began to descend. Its a strange feeling travelling further and further away from where you want to go on a road you never intended to go on. ? Especially on a road you know so well. It wasnt as though i was on holiday and lost.
After 50 miles i turned off at an unfamiliar junction and found the North side of the motorway again, at last. What happened that night felt strange. The feeling of being carried along against your will. Next day i discovered a driver had travelled the wrong way down the North side while evading the Police. Apparently he was carrying a large amount of drugs ( probably on route to the Old Grey Town...lol
There are often bizarre incidents, and accidents locally on this stretch of motorway. Car fires are common, even a body was found burning at a local service station a few years ago. The most recent strange one was a person being thrown from a moving mini bus... The motorways surrounding have also being the site of some horrific accidents too. You notice these things as you get older. Some areas attract disaster.
