A great 70's British horror film. A golden age in film when original plots or imaginative ones were common. When this popped up on my YouTube I thought I hadnt watched it before, but it turns out I do remember the closing scene.
There is something about this era of film - Quatermass and the Pit - Tales that Witness Madness - Asylum ect. They feel fantastic to watch even now. There is a certain feeling and kudos to them, and they capture a very British atmosphere too. I also like spotting old cars in them. Again its nostalgia that brings out the pleasure of watching them, and they really are still engrossing to watch, and well paced even by modern standards. There is no " filler " 30 minutes like in modern films for starters.
Richard Burton - what a smoldering actor. A sex symbol ( remember those ? ) in his day.
That's wonderful. A slice of Britain's Heyday.
ReplyDeleteA gem.
DeleteYou are lucky to have such a rich heritage in the UK. You can step out of your home and see history at every doorstep, in everything. The USA is a very young country and has no real culture or heritage. We're just a mishmash of different people, ideas, etc., all come together as one. The most culture we have is in California, only because of the large Mexican population. Tacos on every corner. That's what we've become. lol.
DeleteYou had a civil war. Thats quite historical and interesting, but thats about it. Give it another 900 years....lol
