New lows

 The news are airing more and more violent and disturbing stories. Most nights feature a child murder or a mother and child murder. We have stories about children watching porn, we have children stabbing children, we have a morgue worker having sex with the dead and even a male rapist who changed his sex and ended up in a womens prison, for a while. Oh, and I forgot the Christmas Eve drive by shooting of a woman. Its almost cartoon like. Its not natural.

Today we had the details of the death of a dog walker who was killed by several dogs fighting. The fact she died of " multiple deep penetrating bites to the neck " leaves nothing to our imagination ". There have been other deaths due to dogs last year too. Why are dogs killing people ? I think saturation point has been reached as most house holds have one or two or more ! They are turning on humans now which is not surprising as they are at heart violent killers. 

You see its like a evil symphony, and its just started since Christmas. We are being primed, and its so obvious. Shock, anger and fear is what they now push, not news. We are forced to react, one way or another.

Our government is up to something as well,currently they appear to be making no effort to end the many public service sectors that are now having strike days. Ambulance drivers, nurses, fire fighters and obviously teachers are all joining in. It seems like they are being ignored. Ive never seem this happen before. Ive never seen nurses or ambulance drivers strike. Its a new callous low.

 So I called in today to visit someone I know well, but they were out. Having a nosey around their back garden this weird tree immediately reminded me of the one from the film above. It has that same disturbingly human essence about it. I'd say this tree trunk is definitely a male though....lol There even appears to be a faded face at the top. It looks feline. Im glad its not in my back garden because it spooks me out. It really does.

Can a book be dangerous to health ?

 Ive been asking my self recently whether a book such as a novel could be dangerous ? Weve all heard the one where a video game is held responsible for someones violent cations in life, or a movie is demonized after being deemed to be too disturbing for people to process safely, but what of a novel ? How could a book be more dangerous than the above ?

Having got ill twice while reading  George Orwell books I now feel its unwise to try another. Is it possible a book could have that affect on me ? Its just words on paper after all, right ? Each word we read goes into our brain, and each scene and character is brought to life in our imagination. We visualize entire stories, and once this text is programmed into our brains then who knows what can be triggered consciously or even worse sub-consciously ? 

They say we should be careful what we watch as its " programming " us over time, distorting our outlook. No one considers the humble novel read by the bookworm as a potential threat, but the intimate way we absorb the words straight to the brain makes an impact more substantial I think than say a movie where we watch someone elses images instead of creating our own.

I really connected to Orwell. I felt a little too well connected in an almost incestuous way, as though he was a part me, mad as it sounds. Maybe it was just coincidence, but Im not picking up another book of his for a while. Maybe the brain can be unbalanced or intoxicated by reading more so than listening to music or watching a film ? We just dont know the whole results of the programming of our brains by written word.

Covid floored me for two weeks

Even finding these image brings back memories of the troubling times....

So I thought the roof was finished just before Christmas, but no, a neighbor tells me the new roof is leaking already, and there is a dispute with said roofers who have downed tools ! This whole area around the house has a history of water trouble. It doesnt surprise me at all, and I predicted as much. The whole 3 stories are due to have all the plumbing renewed next, and then the rewiring so its going to be at least another year before anyone moves in. There are interior walls being knocked out, and several on suit bathrooms going in. The cost must be astronomic.

The Medusa Touch (1978)

 

A great 70's British horror film. A golden age in film when original plots or imaginative ones were common. When this popped up on my YouTube I thought I hadnt watched it before, but it turns out I do remember the closing scene.

 

There is something about this era of film - Quatermass and the Pit - Tales that Witness Madness - Asylum ect. They feel fantastic to watch even now. There is a certain feeling and kudos to them, and they capture a very British atmosphere too. I also like spotting old cars in them. Again its nostalgia that brings out the pleasure of watching them, and they really are still engrossing to watch, and well paced even by modern standards. There is no " filler " 30 minutes like in modern films for starters.

Furious clash over Scotland's controversial gender reform bill

The Scottish Parliament want to pass a law making it possible to legally change the sex you identify as without any doctors appointment, or assessment taking place. They also want to lower the age you can do this at from 18 to 16. I cant believe such insanity is backed by so many Scottish MP's. Its a dangerous loophole if put in place. Can you imagine the chaos and confusion this law would bring ? Now this law has been blocked by the Westminster the SNP seem to have taken a position of moral outrage. Are they that sick ? They are utterly nuts. Of course they are looking for much needed votes at home and the English government loves to stop to much " independence " So this issue is a political football, but what a worryingly nutty one it is. How can any right minded person see this law as a good idea. Its another step on the road to mass corruption. I thought the woke womans glasses were steaming up, I'm sure they were...lol

The Royal Mail Electric Van Scam - Part 2 - NOW it all makes sense...

So I came across this on YouTube after watching part 1 about the Royal Mails plan to replace 41,500 vans with electric ones, and the 4 fold increase in running costs that would occur by doing this. Anyway at 5 minutes into the video we find out that the Royal Mail CEO used to run Test and Trace during the pandemic which wasted 22 billion pounds. I like the improvised job interview here using the figures as it really shows just how insane these last 2 years have been, and in a very simple way that I think we really need to focus on, but many cant even begin to see it.

What ive long suspected.

 Due to past experiences I have no doubt that there is a force on this farm that can maliciously undo nuts and bolts, even those with self locking threads. Todays example was  the return of a past manifestation as in a bolt and self locking nut had disappeared that held a large load baring pin in place on a tractor loader. The large pin was sliding out, and the bolt that held it in place was gone. These nuts are self locking and cannot shake loose. Last time this happened two bolts, one from each side opposite each other were missing. What were the odds of that happening ?! At this time I was routinely moving a one ton water container. That could have been fatal as I was often walking around or nearly under it as it emptied.

Another incident was the quad bike engine breaking due to youve guessed it engine bolts shaking loose leading to over heating. Its just ridiculous really. Ive had relations who have arrived in our yard with things loose on their vehicles that they tightened recently at home. After many years you can see the pattern emerging. Its dangerous. If a force can do this then what else is it capable off ?

Clever Trevor

 I have to hand it to vegetarian food adverts. They are very clever, and have been very carefully thought out. One such slogan thats become apparent is " Beyond Meat " suggesting that non meat products are a step into the future. Its not even being negative about meat which is what some may expect. It just quietly suggests that their product is a step on from traditional meat. A next step as in a sequel, as in the world of movies even. It has that kind of flavour to it.

That golden age ?

 Where can you find mental intimacy in todays world ? When I was younger people were more social. Now they have settled down and are in relationships. There are no more late night confessions after christian youth meetings in friends houses, or our kitchen. Talking until 2 in the morning just doesnt happen anymore. 

As a generation we are less sociable than our parents who had friends around for supper. I remember my mother cooking all day in preparation for visitors. It was an event as a child, all sitting around a big table eating a roast of pork or beef, sometimes even something challenging to make like beef wellington. People made an effort and pushed the boat out to make lovely big chocolate cakes, triffles and the like. There was often a choice of " sweets " too.

When I went to bed I remember my parents friends stopping late and hearing them chatting as I fell to sleep. They talked and talked into the night, and my parents were tired next day, but it was an event and very healthy no doubt. Today a woman would balk at spending all day preparing a meal unless it was Christmas, maybe. Men worked back then and women took care of family and home. It worked well as finances were still sustainable in that life style model, and people werent moving house and job every 5 minutes...lo

 To add to this feeling of mental promiscuity a relation is also  " seeing " the same councilor. This also feels odd and un-natural. It evokes a slight feeling of annoyance, but I would stop short of using the word jealousy. However they suggested him to me first...

Another cracker...

Erm...

 There is something that does not feel right about paying a councilor, especially in cash. It feels like a certain form of prostitution. Paying for chatting which relieves you, and is enjoyable in parts feels wrong. It feels like paying for intimacy. A mental intimacy thats one way. Again like prostitution. And again it is something you dont make generally known. There is a shame to it, though I am enjoying it.

Strangely true, hence when you call into question an action into you are instantly at the mercy of someone who thinks they have the high moral ground.

Unsettled

 My TV remote control makes a static clip every 30 seconds, every night. Is this normal ?

 Last night I was in a strange mood. I was reading Dracula and my leather reclining seat kept creaking, even when I remained completely still. It was very off putting. I then listened to some music on You Tube, but just let the algorithm choose for me. Started off with Ian Dury and the Blockheads and ended up with the Sex Pistols, closely followed by a song with a video of a man having his ear wax removed and being chased down a corridor by a flock of ears. At this point I felt mentally wobbly and turned off.

Turns out I fell asleep and woke up to the moon clear through the window above me. I felt even more strange and unsettled now with a constant moaning wind from the north. What an odd night. The remote is continuing to click as I speak. Ive just got rid of a TV that would crack loudly from the plastic surround whether it was turned on or off. That was unacceptable to my nerves and had to go. Why would something do that ?

Lucky to be alive

 Why have young people no common sense anymore ? Sure we all did some dodgy antics once, but by our mid twenties we could judge a dangerous or potentially dangerous outcome to our decisions. Couldnt we ? 

This week I heard two stories about young people in our family who ended up in dangerous situations, but seemed totally not to see them coming somehow.

The first went hiking on New Years Day in misty wet weather, and got lost with friends after becoming disorientated as the evening gloom closed in. The mountain rescue team had to be called to guide them to safety after they nearly walked right over a cliff. The short dark days are not the time to be walking up mountains. One mistake and the night soon closes in. Im sure I heard of some people needing rescuing on the local news and thought what idiots are up there at this time of year ! Embarrassing no doubt, but they were bright people, but no common sense at all. People have no fear of nature anymore. Everything seems benign and tamed to them. The truth is that the hills and weather want to kill. Disrespect them and your asking for it, especially in winter.

The second incident included the brother of the girl whose friends got stranded on the mountain. He set off for a drive with his mates during icy weather. But where did he go ? Only up the highest single track mountain pass in Cumbria thats well known to be a no go in even slightly wintry weather. His father in the car had fallen asleep, and only woke up when the car started sliding and spinning sideways. They never thought to turn around. He couldnt believe they had got so so far up the narrow pass. When he asked his son why on earth they had attempted the drive when signs said " road closed " his son replied that " they always say that " Anyway said father was so scared he told the passengers go get out for the decent because if anything went wrong there was no point in them all going of the edge to their death. 

These people involved in the two incidents all had degrees and good jobs. In fact upstanding young people, but there was no judgement or common sense. I think also that when in a group we relinquish our judgement to others, or allow ourselves to do things we arent comfortable with if others agree to it being " safe " No one wants to be the person that say " no ". As we get older we correct that trait and maybe even see danger everywhere. Maybe I forget how it felt to be that age ?

After a string of mechanical failures, all which should not have happened this week I cant agrue with the above statement. Firstly a tractor gearbox has failed at a stupidly low work hours, and now our quad engine is ruined due to some bolts shaking loose mysteriously. Again this is a freak occurrence. Even a tyre I bought for my bike isnt round, oh and the bath has sprung a leak. Christmas has come late it seems !
